In what would end up being a bitter and cruel twist of fate, Jim Croce sings about the lack of forever with the one you love prior to his own untimely death. Time in a Bottle swirls with lilting harpsichord melodies, creating an almost dreamlike atmosphere. The song makes you feel as though your feet aren’t on the ground, but instead are floating effortlessly along with the flow of Croce’s voice.

The singer longs for eternity with his partner, lamenting that the curse of humanity is having only a finite amount of time on this planet, much of which is spent searching for the person you’re meant to share it with. In one of the clearest examples of a Chiller, I would challenge you not to feel Croce’s aching within your very being by the time the first chorus arrives.
